Attn: Actors and Mgmt. -

Due to conflicting meetings this afternoon, today's (12/16) table work session is canceled.  I'll post some thoughts/instructions here to tackle between now and resuming work on the 3rd.

Have a wonderful winter holiday!

Seeking: Visual Artist(s) for Scenic Work

We've already spoken on this, team, but I wanted to put down in writing what I'll be looking for from folks interested in having their art used as the projections for NewLandia's scenic design.

Portfolios from interested artists should include:

- 2-5 Pencil Sketches of Dungeons and Dragons characters from the 2nd Edition (you can find this online)

- 1 Map in a fantasy quest style, using Pencils as the medium

- 1-2 Penciled Landscapes of fantasy realms

I'm happy to receive them physically or digitally...whatever works for you.  Sketch quality is appropriate, given our needs for the show.  And remember, the play is set in 1995...digital sketching wouldn't be happening yet, so go old-school.  Beyond the 'must haves' above, get creative and have fun!

I'll need these by 1/4/2023 so that a final decision can be made, and the artist(s) will have time to do their thing before we scan them and turn them into projections.

I'm looking forward to seeing your work, IBWHS!

The Remind (+ a Reminder)

Thanks everyone for making the time to be with us to establish our ensemble, to build our community!

Here are two way to get on to the Remind chain for the show:

1)  Click the following link and following instructions: remind.com/join/sw2monstrs

2)  Text @sw2monstrs to the number 81010

That's it!  This'll be the primary way your stage managers and I reach out to you with quick-hitting alerts or changes to calls.  General information will usually go out through this blog and the school callboard, with a notice coming through Remind to go look at the fuller information.  In general, we'll try not to drop much on short notice, or without enough detail to make sense and plans.

...Side note: Remember to fill out your formal acceptance of your role, here at this LINK!

Thanks, y'all...also remember, no one is called tomorrow.  I'll work to post a preliminary Production Schedule by the end of the day.

See ya soon!

Cast/Crew List - She Kills Monsters

In ways I can’t begin to describe, thank you!  This has been an amazing experience. Humbling to be sure…and you have my most heartfelt thanks for making this an amazing week.

Actors:

You’ve done such an amazing job this week with your heart and fun, your good nature and energy, that you’ve made this beyond challenging.  I will tell you that many decisions were made for me: both good (some truly role-winning choices) and technical (combat potential made some decisions for me).  In the end, though, most roles had multiple people in contention until the bitter end, and y’all should be beyond proud of yourselves!!!

All Actors and Stage Mgmt/ASMs listed below should be ready to attend the MANDATORY rehearsal Monday, and should begin reading through the perusal script to get a handle on their roles…we dive in directly.

Leads/Apprentices:

1) Due to the huge number of applicants, many of whom I don't know, I've had to limit most positions to either those folks that I've already seen their work, or that gave me a bunch of useful info on their Crew Application.

2) For those I do know, there’s a new thing on this show that we’ll be carrying forward on future shows.  The roles on the shows have changed to accommodate the increasing number of folks interested in, and capable of, supporting our crews.

  1. Lead: Leaders in their particular field.  They know the show process, their primary job is making sure things run smoothly, their secondary role is training future Leads on the show process.

  2. Artisan: Active and committed.  They have Apprenticed and know the show process, and have committed to being a vital part of the show.  They’ll be at all the builds, and can handle their own.

  3. Apprentice: Curious and committed. They’ll be at all the builds, and are learning the rhythm and routine of the show process.  They’re maybe knowledgeable, maybe passionate, but definitely want to be a part of the team…now and in the future.

  4. Company: Interested and available.  They care about the production, the people, and/or the work, and want to help…but might have commitments beyond theatre, and can’t give the same time as others.

3) For all assigned to Run Crew or House Crew: These roles will see folks assigned to a variety of show-necessary tasks once we reach Tech Week.  There is no way at this stage to know how many tasks will be necessary to set up, run, and strike each night the front of house or backstage (both part of the prospective assignment).  We may ultimately have too many…or not enough crew members.  If you commit to going forward on the Run/House Crews, be prepared to be very flexible in what you expect to do each night…there’s just no way to predict.

CAST OR CREW:

1) All Cast, Crew, Leads, Artisans, Apprentices, and Management/ASMs listed below should be ready to attend the MANDATORY rehearsal Tuesday, and should be ready to engage with the glorious team readying this show
.

2) If you have viewed this post, and accept your role on the show (onstage or offstage), please fill out the following Google Form before 900am Monday, 12/5.  Let’s do this!

Callback List - She Kills Monsters

Thanks, y’all for your fantastic work the last couple of days!  I’ve been having fun, and I sincerely hope that, despite what I’m sure feels like stress and pressure, you have too!

I can tell you right now that there are people not on this list who have already made the show, some in named roles!  Don’t read anything into the callback list, as it’s far better for your mental wellbeing to enjoy the process so far, and save any anxiety for another time…you’ve done incredibly well!

The following folks (in alphabetical order…again, don’t read into it!) should be on the auditorium stage (this time I mean it) no later than 400pm, and be prepared to stay until 700pm.  This is a toughy, folks!  You’re giving me a bunch to consider.  Excellent work!
